Julie Alleyne Named Vice President of Policy and General Counsel

September 12, 2019, Washington, D.C. – The Surety & Fidelity Association of America has announced that Julie Alleyne will be joining the organization as Vice President of Policy and General Counsel.

Ms. Alleyne will be responsible for leading SFAA’s policy, legal, and promotional work for the contract surety, commercial surety and fidelity lines of business, as well as the legal and risk management issues affecting the association.

“With over 20 years of legal and business experience in our industry, I look forward to Julie’s leadership of SFAA’s work to achieve our members’ strategic priorities,” says SFAA President and CEO Lee Covington. “Julie’s work in both contract surety and commercial surety, her work on both legal and business issues, and her vision for serving our members ideally position her to play an integral role in advancing our goals for the surety and fidelity industry and the businesses, government agencies and consumers we serve.”

Ms. Alleyne’s professional experience includes 17 years working for SFAA member companies in the surety and fidelity industry in both Claims and Legal. During her time with these companies, she closely partnered with the business on a wide variety of significant underwriting, regulatory and legal issues.  More recently, Ms. Alleyne built a surety agency as Founder and CEO, where she launched a new commercial surety product in the multifamily housing market. She has authored several publications covering surety and fidelity topics, and she has been a guest speaker at numerous surety and fidelity industry conferences.

Ms. Alleyne graduated with a juris doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law in 1995 and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Drew University in 1992. Ms. Alleyne and her husband have two teenage daughters, and she is actively engaged in philanthropic work. Ms. Alleyne will join SFAA on September 30.
