Florida Task Force Recognizes SFAA President for Work on P3s

Friday, August 15, 2014
The Florida Partnership for Public Facilities and Infrastructure Act Guidelines Task Force recently issued its final report and recommendations for changes in the existing P3 laws. The final report acknowledges Lynn Schubert, SFAA President, for her participation in the Task Force’s deliberations. No changes were recommended in the bonding for P3s in Florida. SFAA has worked with the Florida Surety Association since 2011, when we first successfully amended P3 legislation to require the construction portion of the project to be bonded under the requirements of the State’s Little Miller Act. A P3 law requiring bonding in construction of public buildings was enacted in 2012, based on work for of SFAA and the Association in the previous session. All P3 legislation that has been introduced since then has contained SFAA’s bonding language. SFAA’s participation in the Task Force’s meeting explained the value of bonding.
