Next Level Success: Bonding Program hits Dallas, TX
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) is proud to highlight recent success from the Dallas, TX, Level 2 Bonding Education Program (BEP).

Participants, stakeholders, SBTRC staff, and BEP Manager, Nyime Gilchrist, at the Dallas Level 2 BEP

OSDBU’s Gulf Region Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC) partnered with PLC Constructors to provide a Level 2 BEP in Dallas, TX, February 27 through April 4, 2014.

The Level 2 BEP incorporated components including credit assessments, access to capital through the USDOT Short Term Lending Program, and access to procurement opportunities with the lead Prime Contractor Stakeholder, PLC Constructors of the mega Horseshoe Project in Dallas. The Level 2 BEP had 16 emerging contractor participants, and already resulted in two contractors receiving bonding totaling $700,000. Each participant will continue to work with the program’s surety professionals to receive individualized development plans and the SBTRC to obtain ongoing technical assistance.

The SBTRCs use the Surety & Fidelity Association of America’s national network to secure local surety professionals who volunteer to assist the small businesses in becoming bondable or increasing their bonding capacity through the BEP. Through its hands-on, multi-component program, the BEP aims to help businesses grow by obtaining or building bonding capacity.
