Legislation Introduced to Extend the Maryland Individual Surety Law
Tuesday, January 28, 2014
Maryland SB 377 would extend the provisions in the state
procurement code that give individual sureties a limited authority to issue
bonds in Maryland on an unregulated basis.
The law is due to sunset this September, and the bill instead would
extend that authority for five years, until September 2019. SFAA, AIA and NASBP are united in opposition
to the bill.
